LUCIAN FREUD

In his eightieth year, figurative artist Lucian Freud was the subject of a major retrospective with over 130 paintings at the Tate Britain in London July 2002. The exhibit will be coming to Los Angeles MOCA in February 2003. In conjunction with this exhibit the psychoanalytic community in Los Angeles is planning two programs, one that will be held at LAPSI on Feb 28 at 7:30 PM and a second one to be held at MOCA on March 9 at 3:00 PM.


I. AN INTRODUCTION TO THE PAINTINGS OF LUCIAN FREUD

Rebecca Morse, Associate Curator of The Museum of Contemporary Art Los Angeles (MOCA) will offer a slide/lecture introduction to Freud's paintings. Her presentation, at the LAPSI auditorium, will be followed by observations by three Los Angeles psychoanalysts:

Thomas M. Brod, MD, Associate Faculty at the Los Angeles Psychoanalytic Society & Institute.

Desy Safán-Gerard, Ph.D., Training and Supervising Analyst at the Psychoanalytic Center of California.

Karen Lang, Ph.D., advanced candidate at the Los Angeles Psychoanalytic Society & Institute.
